I’ve never actually left someone a mean Youtube comment or tweet, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t had the mean thoughts. Most of the time, when I have these thoughts, I’m telling my story more than I’m telling somebody else’s. When someone else accomplishes something I wanted to accomplish, it’s easier and more convenient to tear them down than it is to admit that maybe they just put in more work than I did. Instead, let’s look at the accomplishments of others as things we can also achieve if we just TRY.

Now, when I receive comments like those, I try to look at them with a little more compassion.
It’s important to be mindful of how we expose ourselves to validation. A lot of the time, it results in some euphoria, but also a lot of stress. Sometimes, the best thing to do in those moments is just to step away from all of it.
